The sustainable antifouling solution for more time on the water and less time in the yard.
✅ Free from biocides, PFAS, VOCs, and toxins.
✅ 5+ years of protection with correct application and maintenance.
✅ Improved performance due to the ultra-smooth surface.
✅ Reduced fuel consumption, increased range.
✅ Easy cleaning with a cloth or brush.
✅ Natural self-cleaning from approximately 10 knots.
F2 EcoHull is suitable for motorboats and sailboats—including trailer boats and dinghies. It works on fiberglass (GRP), carbon, aluminum, steel, and wood.
F2 EcoHull performs best on boats that are regularly used. If your boat remains stationary for long periods, natural fouling will occur, and you should clean it occasionally.
F2 EcoHull is suitable for salt and freshwater areas and is used worldwide—from inland waters across the Mediterranean, Baltic & North Seas, the Atlantic, and into the tropics.
Due to its high environmental standards, F2 EcoHull can generally be used without special restrictions (e.g., including on Lake Constance, in Denmark, or in Sweden). Note: Local regulations at boatyards/marinas may vary—if in doubt, please check briefly.
F2 EcoHull is a biocide-free hybrid polymer coating that creates an ultra-smooth surface to which fouling can barely adhere. It is a "foul-release" system that physically repels fouling instead of killing it.
No, no system can guarantee a 100% fouling-free surface. However, F2 EcoHull offers an extremely effective and durable protection that minimizes the adhesion of fouling and significantly simplifies maintenance.
What you can expect:
Barely any hard fouling: With F2 EcoHull, hard fouling such as barnacles, tube worms, or mussels will barely be able to adhere, as the extremely smooth and water-repellent surface makes firm attachment virtually impossible.
Cleaning without much effort: Superficial fouling, especially bio-slime, can be easily wiped away with a cloth or soft sponge. Tedious scraping or annual repainting is no longer necessary.
Protection against structural damage: The F2 EcoHull surface cannot be penetrated by organisms like barnacles or tube worms. The coating remains intact, even if the boat is not cleaned for extended periods.
Natural self-cleaning effect: Even during normal cruising, some of the light fouling will be shed. From approximately 10 knots, this effect is further enhanced—depending on the hull shape, cruising time, and local conditions.
The application of F2 EcoHull is simple. Many of our customers paint their boat themselves.
Step 1 - Preparation: The most important step is good preparation of the hull. The hull must be sanded until the surface is dry, smooth, and sound (ready to support the coating). It is then thoroughly cleaned with the F2 Degreasing Solution.
Step 2 - Coating: After preparation, F2 EcoHull is applied in three layers: EcoPrimer, Adhesive, and Top Coat. After 36 hours, the boat can be launched/hoisted and the stands/blocks can be moved.
Step 3 - Launching: As soon as the areas under the stands/blocks have been similarly prepared and coated, the boat can be re-launched within 4–6 hours. F2 EcoHull achieves full curing in the water and takes approximately 8–12 weeks. However, the boat can also remain on land for an unlimited time after painting.
You can find the complete instructions here.
You can apply F2 EcoHull all year round. A minimum temperature of 5°C must be observed.
Your boat can remain on land with the F2 coating for an unlimited time, and does not need to be launched within a specific timeframe, as is often the case with conventional antifoulings.
With correct application and maintenance, F2 lasts for at least 5 years. Since it does not wear out or wash away, annual re-coating is not required.
The F2 EcoWash can be used to refresh the surface. After 5 years, it is recommended to apply a new layer of Top Coat to renew the surface for another 5 years.
F2 is very durable, but it can be removed again if needed. For this purpose, there is a special removal kit (F2 EcoRemover). This makes it easy to switch to a different system if the need arises.

The EcoHull Kit contains:

F2 Degreasing Solution (1L)
The hull is thoroughly cleaned with the F2 Degreasing Solution before coating.

F2 EcoPrimer (1L/10m²)
The F2 EcoPrimer seals the substrate and creates an ideal bonding surface.

F2 Adhesive Coat (1L/10m²)
The F2 Adhesive Coat bonds the Primer and the Top Coat together to form a durable coating.

F2 Top Coat (1L/10m²)
The F2 Top Coat provides the super-hydrophobic finish to which fouling can barely adhere.
More boat days ‒ fewer yard days.

Other Alternatives
Physical Protection through an ultra-smooth, hard Zeronic™ surface
Chemical Protection through Biocidal Antifouling Paints
Biocide-Free Fouling-Release Systems, e.g., silicone-based
✅ Free of biocides, PFAS/PTFE, VOCs, and other toxins
❌ Releases biocides into the water; sanding dust is problematic
⚠️ Biocide-free, but usually silicone- or PFAS/PTFE-containing
✅ 5+ Years (with correct application & maintenance)
❌ Typically 1 season, annual re-paint
⚠️ Typically 1-2 seasons, depending on use & maintenance
✅ No annual repainting or sanding
❌ Regularly sanding / painting / disposal
⚠️ A seasonal top-up is usually recommended
✅ Ultra-smooth, durable surface → less drag, yet still resilient
❌ More and more layers → more and more drag that slows you down
✅ Very smooth, silicone-like surface → low drag ⚠️ But: The surface is usually very soft, sensitive!
✅ Copper-free – compatible with aluminum, saildrives, and trim tabs
❌ Copper-based systems are critical for aluminum
⚠️ Generally possible with a suitable system primer
✅ Growth can be easily wiped away (without toxic abrasion)
❌ Fouling grows on firmly, cleaning is very labor-intensive, toxic abrasion
⚠️ Wipe-cleaning is possible, clean gently
✅ Future-proof: helps you comply with regulations. Can be used worldwide without issues.
❌ Increasing Restrictions
⚠️ Silicone application is restricted in some shipyards.
✅ Spot-repair & partial-area repairs are easily possible
❌ Repeated overhauls are necessary; layers build up
⚠️ Reworking requires a compatible system & a clean environment (silicone!)
✅ Glossy, clear finish
❌ Prone to dulling and chalking
⚠️ Usually a matte to satin silicone finish
Note: Service life and maintenance intervals depend on use, location, and application. “Other Alternatives” refers to silicone-based fouling-release systems; properties may vary per product.
